Paired this practice amp up with an Epiphone Les Paul Special II, ( Epiphone Les Paul Special II Electric Guitar, Black) - perfect starting electric guitar set up for a new player.

The amp plays to a decent volume, not ear shattering, and it won't fill a stadium....but what did you expect with 10 watts? The limited number of controls is a mixed blessing. Great because there's less to fiddle with, focus on playing the guitar and making good sound; less on fiddling with knobs to adjust the sound. The overdrive does make some good blues sounds. The bad part, there's no reverb or effects to make the guitar sound amazing.

This is a simple straight amp, nothing fancy. Simple controls, simple sound, and it will serve it's purpose for a good long time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little amp, July 9, 2008
It has everything I need, distortion with adjustments, tone, headphones out, etc. It has a bit of line noise/gargle at certain settings (thus the 4/5 rating) but that could be my budget $200 Squire I'm using with it; who knows. I would strongly recommend buying this amp.

4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific, June 24, 2009
Okay, we all know there are a lot of practice amps out there but this is one of the best, I say ONE because the 15 watt version of this series has everything from this plus treble, mid, and bass. But it can be loud and if you want distortion it would be enough to shame a chainsaw with pickups.
